Student Leadership

Our second Year 5 leadership event took place earlier this term with 70 young people being trained. They are all now delivering playground activities within their schools with the hope to run a KS1 festival later in the summer term.

Tennis Leader Course

We have run two Tennis Leaders courses, one for young people aged 15-18 and another for adults in the local community. We were pleased to see some parents take up this opportunity and hope they will be making the most of the Brent Parks' tennis facilities with their families as the weather gets warmer! All attendees of both courses have been invited to support formal tennis sessions in the community and have the opportunity to develop their tennis leadership skills with a formal tennis coaching course when they have completed enough leadership hours.

Game On Training

Working collaboratively with seven Barclays Girls Football Strategic Leads across West London, we were able to secure additional funding to deliver a Secondary Game On Training event. Sophie Dennington opened the event inspiring over 100 girls with her journey to becoming an assistant referee in the Women’s Super League and a referee in the Women's Championship.

Girls from Kingsbury High School and JFS took part in a marketing workshop learning how to attract a range of different girls to the game, then learnt a number of football themed activities developing their leadership skills by delivering them to other schools. They were joined by Brentford Ladies’ Lillie Elsbury and Ezza Fouly who also plays for the Egyptian international team. Ezza went in goal and invited the girls to have a penalty shot against her before inviting them all to the ladies first ever game at the GTech, Brentford’s home ground this weekend.

Biggest Ever Girls Football session

210 girls attended the BEGFS event on international women's day at the Lower school. Supported by QPR, the event took the girls around eight activities where they were able to work on their football skills. Kingsbury High School Game Changers teamed up with QPR coaches to continue to develop their football coaching skills.

NFL CPD

NFL have been developing the Flag format of the game and want to start introducing it into schools. With the sport being introduced into the London Youth Games this year, we were pleased to be able to facilitate a level one training event for teachers across London. We are looking forward to including NFL Flag in our events calendar next year.

LYG Tri Golf Leaders

10 of our Sixth Form sports leaders had the opportunity to be involved in one of the biggest School Sports events in the calendar. We were invited to take leaders to support the Tri Golf event at the London Youth Games Spring Finals day on 19 March at Redbridge Sports Centre. The group delivered 10 activities to schools from all across the 33 London Boroughs.
