On Friday 27th September, both the Year 12 and 13 Politics classes had the pleasure of meeting the Conservative MP for Harrow East (the constituency for K site), Bob Blackman. Bob Blackman is also the chair of the 1922 Committee of Conservative Backbench MPs and has a significant role in the current Conservative party leadership process. During this meeting, the students were given the opportunity to ask Mr Blackman questions on various topics including internal and foreign policy issues and what his opinions were on them. The Politics students gained a plethora of insight on the workings of a backbench MP from what it’s like to be in Parliament and belonging to a party to how one deals with the concerns and worries of their constituents.
