Our Year 13 Physics students have just returned from a truly unforgettable educational trip to the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland. This experience was a brilliant culmination of their classroom learning and a fantastic glimpse into the world of cutting-edge scientific research.
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the guided tour of the CERN facilities, home to the world-famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Students were given a behind-the-scenes look at the scale of this international physics experiment. They visited control centres and exhibition spaces, giving them an appreciation for the vast engineering and computational power required to explore the universe's fundamental questions.
The visit was invaluable for bringing the theoretical concepts covered in the A-Level curriculum to life. Students studying topics such as particle physics, electromagnetism, and the Standard Model saw these principles in action. A few students studying A-Level Chemistry, Mathematics and Computing Science also joined the trip.
We are incredibly proud of our students' engagement and enthusiasm throughout the trip, and we believe this experience has significantly deepened their understanding and passion for the subject.
Thank you so much to Samantha Lakhani and David Cumbers for leading the trip. HUGE thank you to Anita Yao who has spent months of her time planning this trip for our students. Anita, your organisation and dedication to making this trip happen is incredible!
