On Friday 8th December we took a group of 57 KS3 students (Year 7-9) to Lille, in Northern France where we visited the very popular Ville de Noel with its Christmas market full of arts and crafts stalls and typical French food and drink! There was also a Ferris Wheel and a carousel students enjoyed rides on. This trip did not only help students’ language development but also improved students' overall confidence and social bonding. Below there are testimonials from some of the students who joined the trip.
I cannot wait to organise next year’s trip!
Mrs Mesa-Masa
My name is Karla and I went on the France trip with Ms Mesa and other teachers. I enjoyed this trip a lot as the teachers trusted us enough to let us go shopping and to the markets alone. My favourite part of the trip was the shopping centre when the teachers let us go buy anything with all trust and not even double- thinking it. It was an extremely fun experience and I would 100% go again as it is also just a day trip so we're not away from home for too long. It was my first time ever going shops alone with my friends and I never thought I would get the chance to. It was also educational as when we bought stuff we had to speak French to the cashiers.

I enjoyed our experience to France because we got to explore different areas of the city. When we arrived to Lille, we went to the Christmas markets and explored the different stores that there were. Me and my friends bought some necklaces, teddy bears, and a pop up card. After we finished exploring, we walked to the coach and went to the bowling alley to play some games. It was very fun as we got to cheer our friends and make new friends. After we finished our bowling games, we then went to the shopping centre and we split up. We then explored some of the shops and bought some food for our journey back. I bought some gifts for my family. After we finished there, we walked to the coach and carried out our journey back to the UK. As we travelled back, we were chatting away, talking about what we all did and bought. We were a little tired but we managed to get some rest. Overall, I have enjoyed our trip and would recommend anyone else who would be interested. I think this is a great opportunity for anyone who may have never been here before or been to another place for long.
