University of Cambridge Translation Bee Regional Final

University of Cambridge Translation Bee Regional Final
1st Jul 2024

On Tuesday, 11th June, after school, I had the pleasure of taking the KHS Translation Bee finalists, Venesha B (8G) and Yashi V (8Y), to the North London Collegiate School, near Stanmore, to attend the Regional Final. From over 3000 students from the region, only around a hundred students, including Yashi and Venesha, made it to the Regional Final. Both girls were a real credit to Kingsbury High School and showed great resilience, aspiration and integrity when having to quickly translate as many sentences as possible, into Spanish / German, said to them, within a minute, in front of over a hundred students, mainly from independent schools (who had been heavily coached!), which was quite scary, to say the least! Venesha just missed out on making it to the National Final, but Yashi has made it through to the National Final at the University of Cambridge at the end of June, which is a truly amazing achievement. Congratulations to Venesha and Yashi for doing so well against some really tough competition!"

Yashi Vaghela will be attending the Translation Bee National Final at the University of Cambridge on Friday, 28th June. Naturally, we wish her all the best.
