KHS took part in the Kingsbury and Kenton Climate Action Month, which was part of the Let’s Go Zero Climate Action Countdown Programme, from 7th June to 5th July. Members of the Eco Club visited assemblies across the school and introduced the activities while highlighting the importance to go green. Students then embarked on a journey that included creating posters encouraging their households to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste or to switch off the lights as part of the Big Weekend Switch-off. Every subject had a climate change related task and Year 8 students even created their own version of the ‘SOS from the Kids’ song. The Eco Club also organised an Eco Bake Sale at lunch time and raised £120 for Barn Hill Conservation Group, a local charity, whose representative was also invited to the event. Students learnt a lot about how the charity restores natural habitats in Fryent Country Park while the cupcakes were ‘flying off the table’!
