This half term saw a great outpouring of generosity from the school community in support of our foodbank appeal.
The appeal was launched to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Despite being the 6th richest nation in the world, there are still millions of people living in poverty in this country.
For many of these people, foodbanks are an important lifeline to prevent families from experiencing food poverty. Last year, across the country the foodbank network distributed 3.1 million emergency food parcels.
It has been really positive to see our community come together to support this appeal and at the time of writing we have collected six full crates of desperately needed items of tinned foods and toiletries which we will donate to our local foodbank. The Colindale Foodbank has been operating since 2012, offering a 3-day emergency food parcel to people or families in crisis. Alongside food, they also include toiletries, household cleaning products and baby/infants supplies.
If you are still able to donate, there is still time because we will not be able to make the delivery to the foodbank until the week beginning 18 November, so the deadline has been extended to 14 November.
Thanks again, your efforts will mean a lot to so many families in need.
