We were very fortunate to invite Chaandni Balachandran to the school, who is a 5th year medical student at Imperial College London. Chaandni is also the Community and Outreach Vice Chair for the Paediatrics Society at Imperial College School of Medicine. She came to deliver a talk to aspiring medics about what it is like to be a medical student at her university, including shared activities available to students during their free time. She also gave us valuable insights into the different career paths after studying medicine. This included various roles both inside and outside of hospitals. All the Year 12s learnt something new about medicine and related careers, and left feeling very positive after Chaandni's talk. We are grateful for her visit and look forward to future visiting speakers in the medical society.
