School Games

We hosted our biggest ever Boccia event this month with 87 young people taking part. All young people involved had an enjoyable morning which was well led by leaders from the Sixth form. The event supported SG Outcome 2 ”Delivering and engaging in competitions that has clear intent and creates positive experiences based on the motivation, competence and confidence of your young people that need support most”, with leaders with hearing impairment from the School supporting a HI unit in one of our Primary schools access the competition ensuring they felt ready and confident for a inter-school event. Congratulations to Maple Walk and Mitchell Brooke who finished joint 1st place.

We are pleased that so many schools got involved with the Street Tag competition this term. This competition specifically supports schools with Schools Games Outcome 1 “Maintaining and growing school’s engagement in the School Games and your delivery of the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) 60 active minutes for every child or 20 minutes for SEND young people.”

Congratulations to Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School for finishing on top closely followed by Kingsbury High Schools in second and Oakington Manor Primary School in third.

This term we shared the LYG33 applications and encouraged schools to have their young leaders apply for various positions. We are pleased to announce there are 2 Team members in LYG33 from Brent, this is a huge achievement for these individuals but also for the borough to now have input into London wide programmes that support young people.

As part of our efforts to enhance the PE and School Sport offer for the students at Kingsbury High School and all students across Brent both at Primary and Secondary Schools, we are launching a new initiative to secure sponsorships for the School Sports Partnership. These sponsorships will directly impact the access and opportunities young people in our partner schools have to PE and Sport through resources, competition, extracurricular support, and much-more.
