The Year 12 Geographers are enjoying a few days in Devon on their field trip to Slapton Ley Field Studies Centre. We drove down through Storm Herminia and it has hung around for the rest of our stay! We have completed fieldwork investigating the rural villages of the South Hams area and have sampled local produce in a nearby farm shop. We walked 8km along the South West Coast Path to see coastal landscape features in the worst conditions anyone at the centre can remember! The group were absolutely brilliant and even though they were wet through, they still had smiles on their faces. They were rewarded with hot drinks and chips in the tourist village of Torcross, then investigated changing beach profiles along Start Bay. On our final day we will observe a relic coastline below Start Point before returning back to KHS. Well done Year 12, you have proved how resilient and resourceful you can be in difficult conditions.
