We Can Be 2025

Our Year 12 Business Studies students recently enjoyed an enriching trip organised by 'We Can Be,' where they had the opportunity to connect with Roc Technologies. The experience offered invaluable insights, demonstrating that success doesn’t always require a university degree or a direct link between your studies and career. A standout example was Roc's marketing director, who, with a music degree, found great success in business.

The day was filled with interactive sessions, where students learned to use AI to build their personal brands and worked on refining their personal statements. One student, Hawa, even secured a work experience opportunity. Additionally, the group had the privilege of meeting Dr. Joanna Abeyie, a multi-award-winning social impact entrepreneur and advocate for diversity and inclusion. The trip was topped off with great food and thoughtful gifts.

"My trip to Roc was an eye opening experience, offering a deep dive into the vast opportunities within the tech industry. We gained valuable insights into working in tech, learnt how to build our personal brand, and explored ways to utilise AI effectively. The event was not only informative but also engaging, with interactive AI games, inspiring talks from successful professionals, and meaningful discussions on empowering women in STEM. We were also treated to goody bags and had plenty of networking opportunities to help further our experience. Later, at the We Can Be event, I connected with like-minded individuals, expanding my network and gaining further inspiration for my career journey. We listened to directors of high street banks, accountants and investors who shared their experiences and gave us advice on how to pursue our dream careers in the future."

"My trip to Moorgate was a valuable experience, which offered me and my peers an opportunity to meet and connect with everyone there. Engaging with the team was not only enjoyable but also insightful as I got to learn more about their roles and perspectives within the industry. Seeing the visitors and understanding their experiences added another layer of knowledge, giving me a broader view of how things operate. The entire visit was genuinely a great learning experience and I truly appreciated the chance to gain deeper insights into the industry while building meaningful connections."
