Kingsbury High offers the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The Duke of Edinburgh’s awards have run for the past seven decades, inspiring and transforming the lives of millions of young people from all walks of life.
The award is broken down into 4 sections, volunteering, physical, skills and the expedition. The course is based around building independence, motivation, team work and resilience. These are not only fantastic life skills to foster and develop but also superb qualities to be able to describe on a CV or a UCAS reference.
Each area of the course holds new challenges and experiences none more so than the expedition phase. During this phase student’s will experience new parts of the country whilst camping and walking with remote supervision. If you choose to take part in this course it will be one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences that you will have in the sixth form.
Students who receive free school meals or bursaries will be subsidised by the school, ensuring the course is accessible to all students.
Gold DoE is a key way to show employers your attitudes and experiences: charity work, leadership, teamwork, resilience, independence as well as grit and determination.
